Ulangan 6:1

Exhortation to Keep the Covenant Principles

6:1 Now these are the commandments, ¹  statutes, and ordinances that the Lord your God instructed me to teach you so that you may carry them out in the land where you are headed ² 

Ulangan 7:22

7:22 He, ³  the God who leads you, will expel the nations little by little. You will not be allowed to destroy them all at once lest the wild animals overrun you.

Ulangan 17:19

17:19 It must be with him constantly and he must read it as long as he lives, so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and observe all the words of this law and these statutes and carry them out.

Ulangan 19:12

19:12 The elders of his own city must send for him and remove him from there to deliver him over to the blood avenger ⁴  to die.

Ulangan 30:6

30:6 The Lord your God will also cleanse ⁵  your heart and the hearts of your descendants ⁶  so that you may love him ⁷  with all your mind and being and so that you may live.

[6:1]  ¹ tn Heb “commandment.” The word מִצְוָה (mitsvah) again is in the singular, serving as a comprehensive term for the whole stipulation section of the book. See note on the word “commandments” in 5:31.

[7:22]  ³ tn Heb “the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in 7:19.

[19:12]  ⁴ tn The גֹאֵל הַדָּם (go’el haddam, “avenger of blood”) would ordinarily be a member of the victim’s family who, after due process of law, was invited to initiate the process of execution (cf. Num 35:16-28). See R. Hubbard, NIDOTTE 1:789-94.
